Sell Digital Products Online

Digital products can be an excellent way to capitalize on your passions while making money. You create a product one time and sell the same copy until the content is no longer relevant. There are various platforms to choose from, and finding one that’s suitable is key.  Many offer free trials so you can test out each platform before making your commitment.

Some of the sites mentioned are not one size fits all, so think about your startup goals, as well as future plans, so you can avoid additional subscriptions and the onboarding time for learning another platform.

Another consideration is what may be prohibited on a platform.  For example, some private label rights products, even if they have commercial rights, cannot be sold on some platforms.  This may be specifically written into their terms.

Etsy provides users with a platform where they can sell handmade and craft products. Sellers can upload product images, descriptions, and prices before posting their listings to Etsy’s marketplace for sale. Customers can then search the catalog to locate their items of interest. The intuitive interface allows customers to locate items easily while offering numerous tools and resources for newcomers.

The site progressed from selling physical goods only, to allowing an assortment of digital products to be listed on the platform.  You can find all types of planners, journals, templates and trackers. If you have a legitimate digital download, you will be able to sell it on the platform.

Etsy fees can be somewhat daunting, but it’s possible to lower costs by following some straightforward strategies. First, ensure your product descriptions are thorough and accurate.  Next, consider adding tags so buyers can easily locate your listings.  Tags will play an integral part in how well your listings perform in search results.

Be sure to remove slow moving listings to reduce renewal listing fees.  Furthermore, be mindful of the transaction fee deducted from each sale total on the website, for every sale you complete. This fee consists of 6.5% transaction rate plus 3% (plus 25 cents) for payment processing fees.  The listing fee is 20 cents. You must factor in all fees as you go about setting your selling price.  There is 15% fee if your item is sold outside the platform using Etsy’s offsite advertising efforts.

Etsy shoppers want to share their shopping experience, so they often leave reviews. Reviews can help promote and build trust between sellers and customers.  Conduct yourself in a manner that encourages positive reviews.
